The Emotional Detox website has gone live! 

Hello! My name is Emma Emmanuel, the Emotional Detox Coach.

A few years ago, following a personal experience, I authored the workbook, ‘Emotional Detox– A Practical 3 Day Process To Healing From Emotional Pain’ (available on Amazon). This workbook helped many on their healing journey, and I saw the need to deliver group and one to one coaching in this area. Using the strategy in the book as a tool, I started the Emotional Detox Program using it to  support and coach people who have experienced some form of emotional pain as a complement to professional medical support. 

The Emotional Detox Program uses the Restorative Justice principle of forgiveness combined with a practical process of expressive-vent-writing as a form of catharsis to release negative emotions. The process is completed by destroying the product of the expressive-vent-writing as an action to get the individual to begin to believe that the effect of the traumatic event is being addressed so they can begin to heal. 

Studies on Forgiveness Therapy has been shown to help the long-term recovery of post relationship emotionally abused women (Reed, et al 2006). While getting medical help is important, it does appear that forgiveness may play a key in the healing and recovery process. Further research indicates that trauma damages brain tissue, but when people translate their emotional experience into words, it could change the way the experience is organised in the brain (Siegel-Acevedo, 2021). 

The Emotional Detox Program does not claim to be a Psychotherapy program, but it is a simple program born out of my personal experience  that could change things for you for the better!
